26 Books Reading Challenge

While browsing Pinterest this morning in order to avoid working on my current writing project, I found this reading challenge. I'm already doing a couple, but this one looks fun and doable (even for people who aren't in the habit of reading the way I am).

I'll be keeping track in the comments. Feel free to join in!

  1. #1 - a book I've read before and loved: Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert A. Heinlein

  3. I've been reading, I swear. Just neglecting to get back here and update. Here's where I am so far:

#3 - A book published this year: Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert (LOVED)
#4 - A book you pick because of the cover: Life Safari by John Strelecky (so-so self-help)
#5 - A book that will make you smarter: Fluent Forever: How to Learn Any Language Fast and Remember it Forever by Gabriel Wyner (Great resource)
#6 - A book by an author you've never read before: Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling (meh)
#7 - A book you were supposed to read in school, but didn't: Out of the Dust by Karen Hesse (depressing)
#8 - A book from the library: Vango (Loved it and bought a copy; originally written in French)
    #9 - A book with a blue cover: Jackaby (Loved--like a supernatural Sherlock Holmes)
#10 - A book of poems: The Crossover (novel in verse; didn't love it, but I know lots of kids who would)
#11 - a book you own but haven't read: Pegasus by Robin McKinley (okay, first in a planned series)
#12 - a book with a color in the title: 50 Shades of Grey (horrible writing, but I had to know what all the fuss was about)
#13 - a book at the bottom of your TBR pile: The Highly Sensitive Person: How to Thrive When the World Overwhelms You by Elaine N. Aron (Illuminating)
#14 - a book by an author you love: Very Good Lives: The Fringe Benefits of Failure and the Importance of Imagination by J.K. Rowling
#15 - A book you started but never finished: A Hole in the World by Sid Hite (meh, which is why I didn't finish it before)
#16 - A book with a female heroine: Love Letters to the Dead by Ava Dellaira (okay, but glad I borrowed it from the library)

  4. #17 - a book made into a movie: The Hundred Foot Journey by Richard C. Morais (like Under the Tuscan Sun, I think this is better as a movie)
#18 - a book with a lion, a witch, or a wardrobe: Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling (yes, I read the whole series AGAIN)
#19 - a book set somewhere you've always wanted to visit: The Messenger by Marcus Zusak (Australia, loved it)
#20 - a book that is more than 10 years old: Cat's Cradle (a classic for a reason)
#21 - a book based on a true story: People of the Book (Excellent historical mystery)
#22 - a book with a great first line: Outlander by Diana Gabaldon (Soooo many great lines)
#23 - a book your friend loves: Big Weed by Christian Hageseth (Bought it for Bill)
#24 - a book "everyone" but you has read: Quiet by Susan Cain (3/4 through this, but I'm counting it anyway, as I'll finish tonight)

Getting ready to start a new challenge for the new year. I hope you'll join me!
